This hourglass tattoo was created and executed by canman.
The client wanted to have the sand be in the form of human skulls.
Canman chose to give the Hourglass tattoo a vintage style and feel.
Likewise, the lettering was styled to look like engravings on a tombstone.

About Memento Mori
“Memento mori” is a Latin phrase that translates to “remember that you will die.”
It’s a reminder that death is an inevitable part of life.
In addition, that one should live their life to the fullest, as every moment is precious and fleeting.
The phrase has been used throughout history as a way to inspire people to live virtuous lives.
Also, to be mindful of their own mortality.
As a result, to remember that material possessions or accomplishments are ultimately meaningless in the face of death.
In art, memento mori often symbolizes objects such as skulls, hourglasses, or withered flowers.
These serve as a reminder of the transience of life.
In literature, it can be found in works such as William Shakespeare’s plays or the poems of John Donne.
Today, memento mori remains a powerful concept, reminding us to appreciate the present moment and to live our lives with purpose and meaning.
