Egyptian tattoos are popular and Canman created this during the Massachusetts tattoo festival.

The Client gave artistic freedom to create an Anubis design.

In addition, mummy’s were added to make the design have a creepy feel to it.

Also, the client has other horror type designs around it, which made this a good fit.

ABOUT ANUBIS

Anubis, also called Anpu, is an ancient Egyptian god of funerary practices and care of the dead.

He is represented by a jackal or the figure of a man with the head of a jackal.

Jackals were associated with death, because they lurked around cemeteries and would eat decomposing flesh.

Anubis the patron deity of jackals, was associated with the funerary cult and the care of the dead.

The Egyptians hoped to protect the bodies from being devoured.

His later role was as the “conductor of souls.”

He was also reputed to be the inventor of embalming, an art he first employed on the corpse of Osiris.
